The CLEAR hotline is open Monday through Friday from 9:15 AM to 12:15PM.
It is a very busy number. You will get a busy signal or messages like the circuits are busy or the number is disconnected. Ignore the messages and hang up and redial, hang up and redial over and over again until you get through. The last time I did it I had to hang up and redial 20 times to get through. Monday is a really bad day as they are extremely busy. Thursday and Friday are the best days.
When you get through you will speak to a screener. They will ask you questions about your issue, your income and the people living in your household. They will determine if you qualify. Then they will either place you on hold for up to 30 to 45 minutes or they will take your phone number and call you back within an hour. You will then talk to an attorney.
If you need further services, CLEAR will refer you to one of the programs in your area. If they refer you back to the CCVLP, we will get your referral in a couple of days and then we will call you to verify information and either tell you how to get an appointment or in some cases give you an appointment at that time.
It is best to use a land line to call and not a cell phone. Your call may be dropped with a cell phone and you are using a lot of minutes.
